Pre-Thanksgiving Dinner with the Fertittas

Since we will be in Tennessee for Thanksgiving, I thought it would be nice to have the Fertitta family over for a little pre-Thanksgiving fellowship.  It is pretty amazing that Grandmother can say that all three of her children and 6 out of 7 grandchildren live within 20 minutes of her.  She says that she has always prayed that her family would stay close, and they have--a testament to what a tremendous woman of faith she is.

The entire clan... just missing Sydney!

I made Dr. Pepper pulled pork in the crock pot with some coleslaw, twice baked potato casserole, baked beans, corn casserole, and red velvet cupcakes, and Grandmother and Sue brought a few dishes as well, so we had a TON of food.  Such a feast.  It was nice to be able to sit and chat with my in-laws, since usually we see them in passing or while we are out to eat after church once a month, and then it is while I'm trying to control two preschoolers who need to go down for naps.

Before the meal, we had a chance to go around and mention something that we are thankful for.  Even in a family of this size, no two answers were the same, because that's just it.  We have been blessed.  We could go all day giving Thanks for what we've been given.  And we couldn't let the evening get away without playing some games.  Poppy indulged us and played some Catch Phrase, and I was able to redeem myself after a HHI defeat in Apples to Apples.

And of course, this sweet boy stole the show.  He slept during our food and games, but woke up just in time to be passed around.  He is such a good natured, big boy.  We all enjoyed getting to hold him!  He is one of the many things our family is thankful for this year.
