Nothing like waiting until the absolute last second to get some family pictures from 2015. When we planned to have some photos taken on December 12, I certainly didn't plan our little family wardrobe to accommodate 75 degree weather. And all my planning around their naps did no good. We stayed out late for my work Christmas party on Friday night, which meant the girls got in bed late Friday night, which means they slept in late Saturday morning, which means they laid down for nap late Saturday afternoon, which means we had to wake them up after 30 minutes of napping to get them dressed for pictures. You're cringing right now, too, huh?
The girls were pretty happy on the short ride over to the farm, but once we stepped out of the car, all bets were off. Willa Kate lost her mind when Harper tried to help her unbuckle from her car seat (instead of it being me), which started a fight. Then, it was fighting over who was holding my hand, and who was on my lap, and who I was looking toward, blah, blah, blah. Shew, I keep reminding myself to love this phase because I will personally never be more loved, more needed, more wanted than I am right now.
But, I am excited for when all that love isn't wrapped in whining.
When Wills is being the less well-behaved of the two, Harper instantly turns into the "look how good I'm being" child. "Don't want that piece of candy they're trying to bribe you with, Willa Kate? I'll take it! Don't care that the photographer is telling you how Santa is watching? Hope he sees me!" It ends up being just as exhausting as the little crazy one.
The girls did look adorable, and Kristin managed to get some really cute shots of them. But, after our
Since one of the knocks on Facebook is how it only shows the highlight reels (I know I'm guilty!), I felt like the general public needed a disclaimer before sweet little color coordinated images of my family were posted. They should know that it was nothing less than hostage-negotiation-level stress. Our kiddos may be cute and most times sweet, but at times they are absolute little terrorists. It's not all sunshine and hay bales over here. How fun that we picked that window for pictures! :)
I should've known that I was rolling the dice, taking them for picture twice in 8 days. They were so, so good for their pictures with Santa, so I should've known I'd pay for that at a later date. :) I do love how they turned out, and I'm glad we did them. I am hoping Sam forgets what a headache they were before it's picture time 2016.
