The girls did pretty well sleeping for their first night onboard. They were exhausted from not napping at all during their big day yesterday, although Willa did wake up in the middle of the night and had a little trouble going back to sleep. When she woke up in the morning, it was still pitch black in our room, so she starts calling out, "I need help! I need help!" So, Sam reached over to help her, and since she couldn't see him coming, when his hand touched her, she started screaming. Hahaha. She said, "Dad, I thought you were a monster. Or a cow." We all laughed at that. Until she said that if dad was a cow, that I was a pig. Ok, not funny anymore. :)
So proud of her lanyard |
We didn't finish with dinner in time for Harper to make it to the first scheduled kid activity last night, so we made sure that we got her to the 10:00 a.m. activity this morning. It was some kind of scavenger hunt, and all throughout breakfast, she reminded us of the time so that she could go. I saw on the schedule that the Guppies were offering a paint time at 11:00, so we decided it'd be nice to do some dry activities before we settled in at the pool for the rest of the day. And when Willa saw the Splash Academy area yesterday (that she was too little for), she kept asking when she would get to do a "cwaft."
There was only one other girl at Willa's Guppies class, which actually made it nice. Norwegian makes organic, edible fingerpaint (the yellow was tumeric and the blue was blueberries. I forgot what the red was!) for the little ones to paint with. Willa loved using the paint brush, even though they offered for her to fingerpaint as well. After the two girls finished their paintings, "Octopus" (the made up name of the Youth Activities staff that helped today) got out the bubble machine for the girls to sing songs and catch bubbles. Cruises really are such family-friendly vacations.
And the rest of our day pretty much went pool, then pool, then pool, pool, pool.
In the late afternoon, I decided to take Willa in for a nap, since tonight is the "Norwegians' Night Out." Not that we will be able to stay out long, but the girls do get to wear their nice dresses, so we don't want them to be insufferable. Harper was still going strong so Sam decided to stay out with her. He sent me a message through Norwegian's iConcierge app that she was hungry again and that he would take her for some food before bringing her back to the room. They went to the casual restaurant O'Sheehans for a "date" and that girl was in heaven. She even saw a rainbow in the rainclouds. Sam said that she talked to everyone and made friends with Gabriela, one of the wait staff managers.
The girls looked so cute in their "fancy" dresses they got for Christmas. I did make everyone go for one family cruise line picture. I'm sure it will be horrible, but at least there will be one of Sam and me, and not just a zillion of the girls. We went back to Aqua to sit in Devi's section, and the girls tried out fried brie and the broiled salmon. It always makes me so proud to see what great eaters they are. Especially since I'm not. Eek.
We are so excited for Roatan, Honduras tomorrow. All the girls have talked about this evening is going to the beach. I think it'll make for a great first out-of-country experience. It is one of the few Caribbean locales Sam and I haven't been too, either, so that makes it exciting for us, too.
I have some super cute videos to add, but don't have the internet capability to do it onboard, but to see the rest of our trip, click here!
