The Jungle Book

Our sweet friends Chris and Tabatha know we love to do experiences instead of being gifted more stuff, so when their daughter Emerson came to Harper's birthday party at Oh So Glitzy, she was kind enough to give her a gift card for the movies.  How fun is that?

So, instead of confiscating it and going to some exciting adult movie :), we knew it would be our next rainy day activity.  It rained all morning, but the skies cleared just in time for Harper's softball game.  The mighty, mighty Grizzlies won again.  Yay!

The girls played hard all afternoon and finally crashed for naps around 3:30 and slept.  And slept.  And slept.  They finally woke up around 7:00, so we decided to try for a late movie.

I read reviews online about The Jungle Book, and while it said it had some mature elements, they were more "hard life lessons" type themes rather than material that's inappropriate.  So, knowing we'd probably be having some family discussions afterward, we ordered our tickets for The Jungle Book 3D on Fandango, and headed to Valley View Grande.

The girls did SOOOOOO well for the movies.  Harper gets a little fidgety, but WK hangs like a champ.  I think her love language may be a screen.  I was a little worried about there being scared, but neither one seemed concerned the food chain aspect of nature.  Harper is my emotional girl, so she did get teary-eyed when the mama wolf was telling Mowgli to leave the jungle (for his own safety), and she just could not handle a mama and baby being separated.  It just meant she snuggled up on my lap for a bit.  That girl sure does have all the big feelings.

After how well that went, I see lots of summer movies in our future.
